This past week I was able to listen to our baby’s heartbeat for the second time. This time made a bigger impact on me than the first time because of how much stronger the heartbeat was and how much easier it was to hear. I think about the baby constantly throughout the day, but the majority of the time my thoughts consist of the big picture of having a child.
What is life going to be like after the baby is born?
However, when I listen to the heartbeat, I’m brought back to the present. That there is a little human inside me and when it comes down to it, everything will work out exactly as it should. The other day I was talking with Liz Abbene, the founder of Enlightened Mama. I was telling her of my doubts and fears and she said that it takes 9 months to make a mom. This couldn’t be more true for me.
During this checkup I was also telling my midwife about my recent presentation on helping women reclaim their sexy after having a baby and what I learned from the other moms there. While we were talking about this, Mark asked a question that I’m sure many Dads ask, “Isn’t the only thing you have to worry about is waiting until the doctor gives the okay to have sex again?”
Now I haven’t had a baby yet, but from what I hear from many mothers out there, waiting until you are physically capable of sex again is only a small percentage of what goes into feeling like a sexual person again. A few of the other factors that play a role in a lowered sex drive after having a baby are:
- Being Sleep Deprived.
- Body Image.
- Hormones. Especially if she is breastfeeding.
- The changing role of body parts. For an example, before the baby, breasts may have played a big role in becoming aroused. Now they are being used to feed a baby.
All of these things and much more are addressed in our presentations. So I’m so excited to announce that we will now be doing presentations for couples starting in November. So if your partner is wondering what has happened to the sexy woman he had before the baby and how he can get her back, come and join us! I will be posting the details soon on my Upcoming Events page.
Hope to see you there!
In the meantime, stay beautiful!
P.S. I have one more thing to share with you! This next week, I will be announcing a 2 month focus coaching deal. These coaching sessions will be focused on keeping you sane, healthy, and sexy during the holiday season. A few of the things you are going to learn about are how to increase your energy, make healthier food choices, and prevent the dreaded holiday weight gain. So come New Year’s Eve you will still fit into that tiny, sexy party dress!
